Our Yard Renovation Continues……
Our long awaited yard renovation has taken place. We were thrilled with the new tropical grass, our wonderful wooden deck installed under one of our beautiful trees. The deck is filled with brighly coloured cushions and rugs where the children often share their snack and lunch together. We purchased seven hand carved wooden sculptures depicting Tidalick’s indiginous dreamtime story. A wooden arbour, stone wall with look through windows and our extended sandpit all complimented our learning environment.
We raised $20,000 in fundraising and grants and purchased lots of new resources for our yard. We have purchased a teepee, dream catchers, a vertical garden and some hand made role-play equipment – scroll down to see some of our photos below of our renovation and some of the resources we purchased.
A water handpump was installed during 2014 and the children just love working together to pump the handle to catch the water in their buckets to then pour down the stone cobbled path, creating a stream.
We are very proud of our kinder yard and want it to continue to develop and flourish during the coming months and years. We are in the process of organising further enhancements and hope to have a dinosaur sandpit installed during 2015 – enabling the children to dig, brush and search for the dinosaur skeleton! We hope to purchase more planter boxes so the children can continue to grow vegetables and then harvest and cook. We will also continue on with our mosaic project where the children get artistic, creating a mosaic with a local professional mosaic artist. The mosaic will depict the indiginous Rainbow Serpent and is being installed in three parts over the next three years so that many children have the opportunity to take part. Lots to look forward to.
We hope you enjoy looking at our photos……
